RAY

Ray Sreshthaputra is a Bangkok-based filmmaker and photographer, bringing bold visuals to life as a Cinematographer and Director. After five years studying and working in New York, he returned home with a fresh perspective on the people, spaces, and infrastructure that shape his city. He is also a brand creative at Maxmotive Production Company, a Bangkok-based production house specializing in film, music videos, and series. For this film, made for Mocana, Ray embraces a documentary-style approach, immersing himself in the raw, unfiltered world of Sepak Takraw. Set beneath a motorway in a hidden, offbeat pocket of the city, the film captures the sport’s pulse through the vibrant community that fuels it. The film thrives on natural lighting, the imperfections of trodden concrete and dirt, candid locations, and the organic texture of 16mm film. Drawn to the striking contrast between nature and urban infrastructure, Ray allows the setting and its people to dictate the rhythm of the story. Through the interplay of sound, movement, and environment, the film offers a fresh, contemporary perspective on a traditional sport, revealing the energy and spirit that live under the bridge."
