PAPHAWEE J.
Paphawee Jinnasith is a film director born and raised in Bangkok, Thailand. She was first drawn to still photography as a child, influenced by her father's passion for the craft. A short course at Central Saint Martins later inspired her to push the medium further and explore filmmaking. Her debut short film, Glowstick (2015), received multiple awards in Thailand—including Best Up-and-Coming Director at the 25th Bangkok Critics Assembly—and gained international recognition. Her latest short, Happy Birthday, Great Grandma (2019), was selected for the CANNES Indie Shorts Awards and Palm Springs ShortFest, and won runner-up at the Thai Short Film & Video Festival. Paphawee has since expanded her creative vision into commercials, music videos, and art videos, working with global brands such as Absolut, Frasers Property, Shiseido, and P&G. With a distinctly female lens, her work is raw, intimate, and often drawn from her own life—shaped by a strong Asian female perspective.
